Autumn, Desks & Donny…
Hi everyone!
Autumn, or Fall for my American friends, is truly here.
I love this time of year. The changing colour of the leaves, pumpkin spiced latte, and cosy nights on the sofa with a good book is my kind of warm fuzzy. A warm fuzzy being a feeling of deep inner joy and contentment. I love warm fuzzies!
September was a busy month and one of transition as I morphed into my new life as a full-time writer. To be honest, it’s only just sinking in that I never have to attend another Teams meeting or Zoom call. I don’t have to commute over an hour to sit in front of a different computer screen anymore. And, I have time for more leisurely walks with Iggy.
My fur-baby has become very used to me being around more. So much so that he appears even more hurt now when I run errands he can’t join me on. Poor baby!
This past month, I shared more content on my social media platforms, including a sneaky look at my writing area. Trust me, it’s rarely this tidy. I also don’t know why my laptop is on the floor, the stand is usually perched on my left, just in front of the two minions. I must have forgotten to put it back up after I cleaned.
As you can see, my desk is a mixture of notepads, books for reference and inspiration, family photos, and mementoes. The young man on my right behind the pink pig egg timer (which I use to time my writing sprints) is veteran entertainer, Vegas headliner, and former teenage heartthrob – Donny Osmond. I have had a major crush on him since I was seven years old. Portrait of Donny was the first album I ever owned. I played it to death.
So, this is my office. For now, anyway. I have plans to move, now I am #coughs# semi-retired. And that is what October will be about – getting my house ready to sell. Studies show that selling and moving house is one of the most stressful things anyone can do, so wish me luck.
In the meantime, I need to get back to work. These books don’t write themselves.
Keep in touch on social media and reach out if you have any questions about writing or my books.
All the best,
Penelope
