New habits
Hello everyone!
I made it! I can’t believe this is my blog post this year! I hope you have enjoyed reading them.
They say it takes 21 days for a new habit to form so hopefully this is now going to be a regular thing. I do hope so. I have loved hearing back from some of you about how much you have enjoyed my books and how glad you are to see the newsletter arriving in your inbox.
I would also love to hear more about you and your lives. I think it would be great to know more about all of you. I’m thinking in a few months, or so, once I get all my ducks in a row, I could feature a reader a month. Not sure how that would work, but…
Anyway. I’ll start. Many of you will open this on or near Valentine’s Day. As a divorcee with no one special in my life (unless you count my dog), I don’t think much about this day of romance, hearts and flowers. But, I think Jess will be very much looking forward to her first Valentine’s Day with Lawrence.
As he proposed in Paris – he is quite the romantic. (I hope that’s not a spoiler for you, but if you haven’t read about it I suggest you check out A String of Perils). What does he have planned? A candlelit meal at The Old School House? A leisurely stroll along Harbour Parade? Or perhaps a cosy night in the Vicarage with Jess, Hugo and Alfie? https://books2read.com/stringofperils
I will be wrapped up warm by the fireside with my furry companion curled at my feet. Though there is no romantic interest in my life, I still enjoy watching a good rom-com. My all-time favourite is Sleepless in Seattle. I just adore Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. And, of course, they upped the game in You’re Got Mail by adding in a love of books.
Talking of Paris, well we were, kind of… I took my youngest daughter to Paris to celebrate her 21st birthday last July. We had a wonderful time. It was particularly important to me to take her away as she had spent the past few years studying fashion promotion at university and the first year of that was spent in a concrete box in student dorms because of lockdown. She has missed out on so much that I took for granted at her age.
Now, she is going to be working for an up-and-coming designer during London Fashion Week (16th-20th February). She’s so excited and I can’t wait to hear all about it. Perhaps some of her stories will help me with some clever plotlines in my upcoming books. Can anyone see Jess on the catwalk? Not sure it’s her thing. Zuzu would love it though.
Talking of the next Jess book, I had better get writing!
Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s. Pull those you love a little closer to you and tell them you love them, even if they winch and say “Stop it” You’re embarrassing me!”
Much love to you all,
Penelope x
